Challenge:
Most people know that strokes are bad news. The problem is that most people, including many health professionals, do not know what the signs of stroke really are. We needed potential savers to be able to recognise the symptoms of a stroke unequivocally, and call 999 as soon as they do recognise them.
Solution:
Our strategy was to tell a wider audience of a technique to help spot the signs of stroke currently used & endorsed by paramedics – FAST: Face. Arms. Speech. Time to call 999.
Results:
Stroke-related 999 calls increased by 55.5% in the first four months alone; and within a year an estimated 9,864 more people got to hospital faster, achieving a ROMI of 3.2:1.
This campaign won an IPA Effectiveness Gold Award.
